The Ultimate Bandsaw Blade TPI Guide

Bandsaw Blade TPI Guide

The ultimate bandsaw blade TPI guide is the perfect tool for those that are new to bandsaw blades. There have been many a hobbyist who are interested in getting into woodworking and are recommended a bandsaw. But, they’re stopped in their tracks because they don’t know how to choose the correct TPI (teeth per inch).

Without the correct TPI there’s many issues that can occur. The blade could break and you can experience inconsistent and unsuccessful cuts. Purchasing the correct number of teeth is one of the most important things to get the desired finish and feed rate.

The higher TPI the smoother the cut but can be slower, fewer TPI can cut faster but coarser. For thin materials such as plastic, plywood and aluminium opt for a fine tooth blade (18-32 TPI), for thicker metals 6 TPI, thicker woods 2-3 TPI and for general purpose cutting it’s safe to go for about 6 TPI. It’s important to note when deciding on the right TPI that at least three teeth must be in your work piece.
